Hughes Sacked By Stoke

Stoke have sacked their manager Mark Hughes after they were defeated 2-1 by League Two Coventry City in the FA Cup yesterday. He had been in charge for four and a half years and led the Potters to 9th three seasons in a row, but this season they have lost 5 out of the last 7 games and are in the relegation zone. Ryan Giggs is the bookies’ favourite to take up the managerial post at the Bet365 Stadium.

Liverpool Agree Coutinho Fee With Barcelona

Liverpool have accepted Barcelona’s £142m bid for their Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho. The fee consists of £105m up front with the rest being payed in realistic add-ons. Coutinho, who Liverpool signed for £8.5m from Inter Milan in 2013, will sign a 5 and a half year contract with Barca that has a £355m release clause. The 25 year old has scored 28 Premier League goals since the start of the 2015-16 season, eclipsed only by one other Liverpool player(Roberto Firmino). He becomes the third most expensive transfer of all time(if add-ons are met) and is by far the most expensive player to ever leave the Premier League.
